 “How to Use Your Telescope”

Welcome to the Prairie Astronomy Club web site.  Please consider coming to one of our meetings.  Guests are not only welcome but encouraged to come out.  We usually have a short (less than 30 minute) meeting portion that includes a very interesting report on what’s up in the current night skies followed by the evening’s program.  

This month’s PAC Meeting will be on January 31st.  The Program will be How to Use Your Telescope hosted by the Prairie Astronomy Club Members.

This is our annual program designed to help anyone with a telescope who needs some basic instruction on how to use one.  Or perhaps you already know but are having some problems you’d like us to help with.

NOVEMBER’S PROGRAM – HOW TO USE YOUR TELESCOPE

If you’re interested in the hobby of astronomy, the Prairie Astronomy Club can help you get started.  We meet every last Tuesday of the month at Hyde Memorial Observatory on the south side of Holmes Lake in Lincoln, Nebraska.  You can meet some of the nicest people in Nebraska and certainly people more than willing to help you get started in astronomy.

Future Programs for the PAC Meetings will be:

 

Feb 2012:  Update on Mars Exploration    Jack Dunn will be giving us a multimedia update on Mars exploration.  More to come.

Mar 2012:  Fun Astronomy Night (still working on this program)    The Executive Board will present a humorous look at the media, film, and astronomy supplemented with a star party if the weather cooperates.  Snacks might be available.  We’re still working on this program so stay tuned for details.

Apr 2012:  Astronomy and the Internet (still a working title)    Dale Bazan is working on a presentation on astronomy and the internet. More to come as he refines the topic.

May 2012:  Tentative: Near Star Party:   We are considering another Near Star Party that will begin early and go until about 8:00 PM with the business meeting afterward.  We’ll let you know.

June 2012:  BBQ Social (tentative)   We are considering once again a BBQ social perhaps featuring Cajon Bob’s Pulled BBQ Pork for a nominal fee and an enjoyable evening of visiting with one another.  Stay tuned for more info.
